TRANSPORTATION SECRETARY LaHOOD MEETS
WITH NRRHOF NATIONAL ADVISORS

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood endorsed creation of the “Trains, Tracks, and Tractors” Tourism Corridor during a visit to Galesburg on October 20th. Meeting at Knox College with advisors of the National Railroad Hall of Fame (NRRHoF), LaHood called the proposed corridor “a great idea!”

The corridor would run along a 90-mile stretch of Interstate 74 in west central Illinois, linking the John Deere Commons in Moline, the planned National Railroad Hall of Fame “Engines of Freedom” visitor experience in Galesburg, and the planned Caterpillar Experience in Peoria.

NRRHoF Executive Director Julie King said, “All three sites showcase the men, women, and machines that build our nation and continue to drive our future. All three represent ‘Engines of Freedom.’ ”
