• Galesburg, Illinois has been designated as the home of the National Railroad Hall of Fame.
• The Congress of the United States formally recognized the National Railroad Hall of Fame through U.S. House of Representatives Resolution #342 passed October 8, 2003 and U.S. Congressional Senate Resolution #255 passed April 28, 2004.
• Induction to the Hall of Fame occurs annually. The categories for induction are: (1) Birth & Development Era, 1800 to 1865
(2) Golden Era, 1866 to 1945
(3) Modern Era, 1946 to Present
