New NRRHoF Board Chair Elected at Annual Meeting
Brian Peterson was elected Chair of the NRHF Board of Directors at the organization’s annual meeting in January. Peterson replaces long-time Chair Jay Matson, who will remain on the board as a director.
Peterson is an attorney with Simpson Peterson law firm in Galesburg, Illinois. He holds an undergraduate degree from DePaul University, a Masters of Business Administration degree from Loyola University of Chicago, and he earned his law degree from Southern Illinois University School of Law.
In accepting the post, Peterson said he was honored by the faith his fellow directors had placed in him. “I want to thank Jay for his many years of service to the Hall of Fame, and I look forward to helping advance this important and exciting project.”
Peterson was born and raised in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1995. In 2013, after practicing law in Peoria, Illinois for seven years, Peterson decided to return to his hometown to continue his legal career. Peterson was named a 2014 and 2015 Rising Star by Illinois Super Lawyers Magazine, and was named one of the 10 Best Attorneys in Illinois for Client Satisfaction by the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys for 2015 and 2016. Peterson lives in Galesburg with his wife Erica, and their three children, Evan, Dylan and Ryan.
In addition to his leadership role with the NRHF, Peterson currently serves as the Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Knox County United Way.
Other NRHF officers elected for the 2016 calendar year include Vice President Greg Mangieri, General Manager of China Rails Material-USA; Treasurer Doug Sanders, President of F&M Bank; and Secretary Richard Kowalski, CEO of OSF St. Mary Medical Center (retired).
