G.L. Vitale Family Foundation Awards $120,000 Grant to Hall of Fame
We are proud to announce that the Hall of Fame has been selected as a grant recipient of the G. L. Vitale Family Foundation. The foundation’s $120,000 award will help fund development of the “Engines of Freedom” visitor attraction planned for Galesburg, Illinois.
Hall of Fame Board Chair Brian Peterson said his organization is honored by the gift. “The Vitale family has a long legacy of service and philanthropy in our community,” Peterson said. “We are grateful for their generosity and support.”
Founded in 2011, the G.L. Vitale Family Foundation’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for residents of Knox County, Illinois. The foundation concentrates its efforts in the areas of education, arts and culture, beautification, recreation, and health and wellness.
“Engines of Freedom” will tell the story of America’s railroads, combining state-of-the art, interactive exhibits with live, main-line freight and passenger service. The facility is projected to draw 100,000-plus visitors annually.
